Don't Sweat the Small Stuff

"Don't sweat the small stuff. Don't you realize that you as a bride set the mood for the entire day for one of your most memorable life changing moments. Remember, all eyes are on you and everyone will be watching everything you do, from the beginning to the end of your ceremony. So if something had gotten on your nerves during your wedding day, let it go! I can promise you that it's not worth ruining your day by projecting negative energy. I have a slogan on my desk that says "Dance, Live, Sing, Love" and I would suggest you follow those words."

Romantic Valentine's Day Tips

Every woman deserves to pamper themselves but on Valentine's day, it should be more intense. Book an entire day to have yourself pampered at a nice salon/spa. Pamper yourself from your head to your feet. Get your body all silky and smooth. Instead of going for the traditional pink or red, try lavender as your color scheme with a touch of violet. This creates a sexy look and gives off a great light that's flattering. Keep this color scheme throughout every room. This will make a nice transition from the family/living room to the bedroom.

Tip: Turn off all forms of communication from the outside world,  ignore the doorbell (an unannounced guest should be somewhere else except ringing your doorbell on Valentine's. ) Enjoy yourself with the one you love. Unless a life or death crisis is involved, everything else can wait.

SN: If you don't have a special one to be with on Valentine's Day, your can still pamper yourself and watch a movie, in the privacy of your own home.

Honestly, You Don't Need to Purchase All of That

Now that you are engaged, you want to start purchasing items for your big day. Bing!! There's Michaels, Ebay, Amazon, Wal-mart, and the list just goes on and on. Here's the truth. You don't need to purchase all those items.

You're probably thinking, I can purchase them in bulk and just resell or give them away to people who will be getting married later. Seriously?! The only way this work, is if you are going to do everything. If you are planning on working with professional vendors, don't bother looking or buying anything because it will be a complete waste of money that you have just thrown away.

Using a professional wedding vendor enables you to rent your vases, candles, linens and anything else you could ever want. There are sometimes when the vendor doesn't have your specific item in stock, but they will get it and you won't have to worry about what to do with your orange/tangerine colored vases.  But as far as the common wedding, there is absolutely no need to buy things that you can just rent them from someone who does actually use their inventory over again.

The spin around dance floor, where are you going to place it after your ceremony? What are you going to do with those 25 vases or mirrored centerpieces you were eyeing along with the drinking glasses that you found at a discount store. Are you literally going to clean up all those items after the wedding? Also, question yourself, Where in the world will you put all those wedding items that you've accumulated? When a professional vendor already have what you need, rent them for less the cost. So, do yourself, fiance and family members a favor, and don't buy those items!

Planning an Engagement Party

Did you know that there is such much etiquette into planning an engagement party? Ideally, the bride's parents host the first engagement party. However, if the bride's parents are unable to do so, then the groom's parents can do it. These days, the rules no longer apply. Any friend of the couple can host an engagement party and there is no certain number of engagement parties you can have, make sure the friend doesn't step on the families toes by planning one without consulting both the bride and groom's families first.

Your party can be as casual or formal as you like. Just keep in mind the number of people you'll be having and the kind of mood you'd like to set. If it's a caterer you've already worked with and like, consider asking about an overall package to have them cater for your engagement party, rehearsal dinner, and the actual wedding. It may end up saving you money.

Toasts aren't just for rehearsal dinners they can be included at engagement parties as well. The father of the bride-to-be is generally the first to toast, followed by the groom, and then whoever else wants to say a few words. Don't forget the entertainment!

Wedding Tip

Honor your family elders because without them, you wouldn't be standing where you are. Distinguish your grandmothers and grandfathers with special flowers and allow them to have a gracious walk down the aisle. At the reception, honor them as well by raising a toast to their good health. And, if they're up for it, give them an honorary dance or have a member of your family honor them with a beautiful poem.

Wedding Day Emergency Kit

You can get any type of container that is comfortable for you to carry around your emergency needs for your bride's wedding day.  Here are a few of the items that I would suggest to have on hand.

  • Blister treatment pads ARE A MUST! We ladies all know that those fun, pretty shoes that we wear take a toll on our feet. We have to constantly refill those
  •  Lash glue: Your makeup artist will use products that will withstand the day, but after so much crying, sometimes that lash glue will give out. This is a great small item that you can keep in your wedding clutch all night
  •  Kleenex: For all of the joyous tears on day of, you need plenty of packs of tissues
  • Tide to go pens or Shout wipes come in handy for many situations with stains!  Tide to go or Shout wipes are even perfect for family outings

My Heart

Even though it's raining outside, it's going to be a beautiful day inside my heart.

Just a thought

Wouldn't it be great to enter into a relationship without being so thirsty for love that you cannot trust your own discernment? When you are not so thirsty for love, you can make better decisions.

Lace Wedding Gowns for 2013

Off-the shoulder lace sleeves. Unlike styles that emphasize the hips, arms, or waist, most brides are happy and comfortable to show off their shoulders and collarbone area. It’s sexy without being too revealing, and also looks great in photos. I volunteered for the Brides Against Breast Cancer event last year in Myrtle Beach, SC. There were a huge number of brides that were looking for lace mermaid bridal wear.

Here are a couple of pictures that caught my eyes for the latest 2013 wedding trend inspiration. Top: Red & Black----Bottom: White, Red & Teal
Just loving this!
